There's no substitute for local knowledge

About 'A' Team Guides

Having trained together, Malcolm and Dawn qualified in 1996 & have been guiding groups ever since then.  Sadly, due to health issues, Malcolm no longer actively guides but he still takes a strong interest in the profession & provides the behind the scenes support for Dawn & the 'A' Team.

Why are we called the 'A' Team?

Many years ago a Tour Operator came to us at the 11th hour with a request for several guides for a cruise ship into Fowey the following day. Despite being late in the evening when the request came through and the start time for the call being early the next morning, we were able to provide the number of guides required. We were then dubbed the 'A' Team by the grateful Tour Operator. Following on from this, we investigated the possibilty of registering the name as a trading name which led us to Stephen Cannell in the USA. He gave us his blessing - as long as we use the inverted comma's and not the hyphen (as in the TV Show - to which he owned the copyright).

I qualified as a Blue Badge Guide in 1996. Since qualifying, I have gained much experience guiding groups around Cornwall. Initially on coaches for the cruise ships which visit the SW ports, I was also a founder member of Cornish Riviera Guides - a consortium of local guides who organised the guided walks for the du Maurier Festival in Fowey .

I am a member of the Institute of Registered Tourist Guides & also a member of British Guild of Tourist Guides
